“When we first started looking for a home in Pepperell we never even considered new construction, until we stepped into a Steve Foley home. We were instantly sold on the design, layout, and incredible detail that set his homes apart from the rest. Steve was wonderful to work with. He guided us through every phase of construction from architectural design to the final touches. The end result was a beautiful, customized home at a great value. Steve’s commitment to quality and satisfaction are unfounded. The fact that he lives in a neighborhood that he built says a lot about his values as a builder.”

Design Build Realty Corp. - 72 Wheeler Street, Pepperell, MA“When we started our new home search four years ago and found a listing for a “Steve Foley” house already under construction, we jumped at the chance to buy a house we knew would be of the highest quality construction.  After looking at numerous, new-construction homes, it was easy to see that Design Build offered the highest quality materials and construction, and we are still impressed with the quality and finish work throughout the house.  Even today, visitors continue to comment on the impressive construction detail, and we rest easy knowing we invested in a house that will remain timeless in design and construction.  I always say that 100 years from now, local Design Build homes by Steve Foley will be the tried and true “historic” houses of the region.  I am pleased to call Steve not only the builder of my home, but a personal friend.”

Steve takes tremendous pride in the quality of the finished product and has a great sense of what will work well as you go through the decision making process. Whether you are a first time buyer or building your dream home, Steve’s experience, consultative approach and attention to detail will ensure you are thrilled with your end result. We highly recommend him!”

Curio House - Solar DecathlonThere was a recent article in the Boston Globe about the Curio House that Steve Foley is helping to build for this year’s Solar Decathlon, a contest sponsored by the US Department of Energy.  You can check out the story for more information about why Steve is donating his time to help out the team from Tufts University and the Boston Architectural College.

Curio House - Team Boston - Solar DecathlonSteve has been volunteering at the Curio House project at Tufts University over the past few weeks. The Curio House is a combined effort between the Boston Architectural College and Tufts University to compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NREL), the Solar Decathlon is a biannual competition in which twenty teams build and showcase fully operational, energy-efficient, marketable, solar-powered homes to the public on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Here’s an explanation of the project from the Curio House web site:

“Our team (Team Boston) is dedicated to showing YOU how our Curio home represents a structure of the future. The Curio home embodies the qualities of comfort, safety, and aesthetic beauty while also balancing the issues of sustainable building, such as ecological sensitivity, social consciousness and equity, and economic practicality.

While the Curio home represents a new way of living and promotes a new set of priorities, we hope that it can also serve as an symbol, a mascot if you will, for the larger issues of sustainable development and living. While we are extremely proud or our home design and our use of solar power, we believe this competition and our team is about doing something so much larger.”

For more information about the Curio House, and to find out how you can get involved, visit the Curio House web site “Join Us” page.

Steve has been working with Mumblefish bandmate Tom Powers, and here’s a short gallery of the two of them at the Curio House job site.
